Corvette ZR1
The Corvette ZR1 is set to make its European debut at the Geneva Motor Show few month ago. The ZR1 brings the technology and engineering refinement of carbon fiber, ceramics and electronics in a distinctive design. The specialized components of the new ZR1 work harmoniously to deliver the most powerful and fastest growing car produced by General Motors. This has Supercar performance with a good at low speed, however, surprisingly strong performance when needed.
Preliminary testing indicates that the ZR1 is based on respect for the Corvette Z06 performance in each category, acceleration and braking, turn grip and speed. The ZR1 power-weight is better than the Porsche 911 GT2, the Ferrari 599 and even the Lamborghini LP640. In fact, the ZR1 should be the first production Corvette to achieve a maximum speed of 320 km / h. A limited number of Corvette ZR1 should be available in Europe at the end of 2008.
Engine
The new LS9 engine is the 6.2L V8 Central behind the ZR1′s performance * 620 hp (462 kW) and 807 Nm of torque. A large positive displacement compressor with a new, four-lobe rotor design, plus a load of the refrigeration system that reduces the temperature of inlet air, to contribute to the ZR1′s performance Supercar. The engine is assembled by hand at GM Performance Center for Construction Wixom, Michigan, and incorporates specialty processes typically seen in racing engines to produce a highly refined and precise product.
Transmission
The engine is supported by a new six-speed manual transmission and a dual-disc clutch that provide exceptional clamping power, while maintaining an easy clutch effort. ZR1 gear provides a strong first report that ratio to start the car, and the maximum speed is reached in the sixth month of March.
Ride and handling
The ZR1 is based on the same intensity aluminum chassis of the Corvette Z06 and features similar independent SLA front and rear suspensions, with aluminum upper and lower control arms. Magnetic Selective control tower is standard and tuned specifically for the ZR1. The system’s ability to offer a tour with almost the instant depreciation adjustments enabled engineers to develop an amazing journey which still offers flexible curved claws of more than 1g. From a high-performance optical, magnetic selective control allows driving the rear axle remain planted during launch for smooth, hop-free acceleration. It can also suppress the movement of the ax in curves when broken or uneven pavement.
Brakes, wheels and tires
In line with the ZR1 engine power is the braking system. The system features carbon-ceramic brake discs carbon fiber-reinforced silicon carbide ceramic material, resulting in the low mass and resistance to wear and heat. Clamp on the high-tech rotors are six-piston front calipers and four-piston rear calipers, each painted a ZR1-exclusive blue.
The brakes are visible through the ZR1′s exclusive wheels: 20 spokes alloy wheels that measure 19 inches in diameter at the front and 20 inches at the rear. They are standard with a bright, Sterling Silver paint finish. Chrome versions are optional. The wheels are wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 2 tires developed specifically for the ZR1, measuring P285/30ZR19 in front and P335/25ZR20 at the rear.
Exclusive exterior
The ZR1 is instantly recognizable. He raised a carbon fiber hood that incorporates a clear, polycarbonate window that offers a view from the top of the engine. Expanded carbon fiber-against defenses, ventilation double below, and a total width, body-color rear spoiler incorporating the center high-mounted stop lamp, are also unique to the ZR1.
