Octopus, The Floating Palace of Paul Allen
Called Octopus, this gigantic yacht is currently the eighth largest in the world. It is owned by Paul Allen, co-founder of Microsoft. Octopus left the Lürssen shipyard in Bremen, Germany in 2003 and if we do not consider the large yacht owned by heads of state, then it is the second largest in the world, surpassed only by the Rising Sun, owned by Larry Ellison. The Octopus measures 414 feet in length (126 meters) and has 8 decks.
It also has two helipads on the main deck (one in the stern and one on the bow), the yacht also boasts a large swimming pool on board, and two submarines, one of them can be operated by remote control to study the deep ocean.
The exterior was designed by naval architect Espen CERN and built by German shipyard Lürssen in Bremen and HDW in Kiel. Its hull is made of steel. The interior was designed by American designer Jonathan Quinn Barnett of Seattle. It is estimated that this yacht had a cost close to $ 300 million.
