Volvo S80 2.5T Executive Sedan

The latest S8o executive sedan is an interesting proposition. The car, into its second generation, has been improved in all aspects, from interior and exterior design, functionality, technology and interior trimmings. Since safety is very important to Volvo, the S8o comes with a list of devices and features to safeguard occupants’ safety. The dual-stage driver and front passenger airbags, side impact protection system (SIPS), SIPS airbags, Inflatable Curtain (IC), Whiplash Protection System (WHIPS), power-assisted anti-lock disc brakes (ventilated for the front) with Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) Dynamic Stability and Traction Control (DSTC) and Emergency Brake Assist (EBA) are some of the items found in the S8o as standard. Inside you get soft leather ‘sandstone beige’ upholstery that is paired with a leather-clad ‘soft beige’ steering wheel and gearshift lever. Classic wood inlays on the dashboard and side panels. As for the wheels, the car is fitted with Volvo’s ‘Silver Bright’ Canicula 17-inch alloy wheel with 225/50 R17 rubbers.

The interior is plush with a steering wheel fitted with controls for audio and cruise control, plus some other functions of the Intelligent Driver Information System (IDIS). The S80 also comes with the Volvo Navigation System (VNS) and Parking Assistance Camera as part of the package. VNS is displayed via an LCD screen pop-out from the dashboard. Volvo has also fitted the S80 with a high-performance audio system with an in-dash 6CD changer. Neatly incorporated into the flat centre dashboard, the audio system’s loudspeakers have also been paired up with the car’s Bluetooth Hands-free System. With a few simple steps, any mobile phone equipped with Bluetooth can be paired. And after the first time, the system then automatically pairs-up automatically the moment it senses the phone’s presence.

With such a long list of equipment packed into the locally assembled S80 it is very reasonably priced  on-the-road, without insurance. This is cheaper than its closest rival. And for those who are contemplating to buy an S80 but are still doubtful due to the rumored high costs of maintenance. This is quite reasonable considering the technology and advanced features that have been fitted into the car.
